We will develop novel statistical tools to answer questions from RCTs on why, how, and how much an intervention works. We will further develop statistical tools for handling of dropouts and non-compliance in RCTs. We will extend the theory developed within causal inference to incorporate post-randomization data (e.g. compliance, markers of organ failure and adverse reactions and treatment choices made in response to patient development in intensive care units). The project will likely expand both mediation and prediction techniques. Finally, we will develop accompanying software solutions.

The successful applicant for the PhD scholarship will be a statistician with a candidate degree in e.g. mathematics or engineering sciences. Accordingly we require documented skills within theoretical and applied statistics as well as high-level programming.
