Can you help us control technical risks in mechanical wind turbine design? Join us and become Mechanical Engineer in the WTG Mechanical department, which serves as technical specialists for blades, hub, nacelle, tower and davit crane mechanics. The department contributes throughout our value chain from qualification of wind turbine suppliers over wind farm development and construction to service and maintenance. The department is part of Wind Power, which has 1,600 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world's largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You may choose freely to be based either at our Danish offices in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or alternatively at our Hamburg office in Hamburg in Germany on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Areas of responsibility You will join a team of wind turbine mechanical specialists who support the business in a number of areas, including technical business risk analysis, specification and negotiation of technical requirements and qualification of suppliers and their products. Moreover, you will conduct manufacturing and installation surveillance during project construction as well as root cause analyses on failed components and systems during operation. Your technical focus area will be on the delivery of wind turbines and davit cranes in our construction projects. You will help negotiate turbine supply agreements and follow up on risks in relation to quality and delivery of mechanical components during the construction phase until commissioning. You will have a close collaboration with the technical project manager for the wind turbine delivery and the technical specialists for the individual components among the colleagues in WTG Mechanical. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: •check that the wind turbine and davit crane supply agreements are aligned with project-specific requirements and interfaces •conduct technical audits of wind turbine suppliers, davit crane suppliers and their sub-suppliers, including first article inspections and factory acceptance tests, as well as providing support to our supervisors and quality auditors •conduct technical audits during the pre-assembly, installation and commissioning of wind turbines and davit cranes •follow up on technical flaws during manufacturing and installation, while preparing status reports for the project management and stakeholders •build specialist competences in the design and manufacturing of one or more of the individual mechanical components in the wind turbine and the davit crane. Your profile You have a bachelor or master's degree in mechanical engineering. In addition, you have analytical and practical experience in mechanical machine components covering cast iron, steel and composite materials, manufacturing processes, degradation mechanisms, testing and verification. Moreover, you preferably have some experience with system design of wind turbines and their installation. You can translate technical observations into detailed project risk descriptions, and you are able to take the actions needed to mitigate risks and coordinate these actions in a team.
