The Implementation and Performance Management research group studies the implementation of new work processes, technologies, and organizational changes. Our work supports Danish and international workplaces in their continuous effort to increase productivity and employee well-being through development of their production and service systems.



We work closely with other research institutions and focus on management and organization, process management, implementation of changes, and working environment in Denmark and abroad. We study this from a socio-technical and systems perspective and apply an integrated approach based on humans and technology, management and organization, and organizational interventions in mixed methods or qualitative studies.



We place great emphasis on disseminating results in publications in recognized international top journals and conferences and work continuously to improve our impact. In our bachelor and masters courses we teach management and organisation, business modelling, implementation and performance management, working environment and occupational health and safety.



The research group is part of the Management Science division at the department DTU Management Engineering.



Responsibilities and tasks



Research

Research will be performed in the broader context of Operations Management. In particular, the assistant professor will contribute to the understanding of process and performance management, including organizational and managerial requirements needed for implementing changes. This research could include development and use of models for successful implementation and process evaluation. The overall objective is to identify the characteristics of production and service systems, which are able to ensure organizational performance, continuous development, and employee well-being while daily operations are maintained.



We expect you to actively contribute to the Department's production of knowledge through research and publications in recognized international top journals, and that you are willing to engage in new issues, if required. The department has strong cooperation with industry, commissioning institutions and government research institutes. The applicant should be willing to actively contribute to these activities.



Research-based teaching

The group’s teaching is mainly concentrated on master level activities, but also includes courses on bachelor level. The applicant is expected primarily to coordinate, organize and teach Danish and international students at the master level in one of our main courses covering management and business for engineers. This course is taught in English. The position also offers the possibility of teaching assignments in Beijing, China, in the context of SDC – Sino Danish Center.



International candidates are required to take courses in Danish and potentially teach in Danish after a period to be agreed upon with the head of division.



It is expected that the person concerned is participating in the daily activities of the group and the department. Furthermore, the applicant will contribute to the internal collaboration at the department and external collaboration with industrial and academic partners in Denmark, like MADE, and abroad.



Qualifications

You have a Ph.D. in engineering science or similar and would like to focus on process management, implementation of changes and / or performance management issues. You enjoy teaching in English and organizing courses and you are motivated by the opportunity to help developing tomorrow's engineers and managers.



You must have good teaching skills and like to be challenged by teaching large courses at the graduate level. Interest and preferably initial knowledge of innovative teaching approaches, including e-learning, are an advantage. Flexibility, self-discipline and initiative are quite basic skills with us as, well as collaboration and responsibility.

•experience in teaching

•scientific production and research potential at an international level

•the ability to promote and utilize research results

•an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience

•the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. We expect to fill the position by the 1st March 2016.



The post of assistant professor is a permanent post as part of which the employee after a maximum of 4 years transfers to a position as associate professor provided that the employee is recommended for assessment and is deemed qualified.



The workplace is at DTU Lyngby Campus. However, the position also offers the possibility of teaching assignments in Beijing, China, in the context of SDC – Sino Danish Center.
