STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

We are currently looking for a Structural Engineer for one of our clients in the Danish wind industry. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for the design and structural integrity of the spinner and spinner support structure, bolted joints and fasteners. Maintaining a well-established closed quality loop, you will be supporting on structural root cause analyses, evaluating non-conformity requests while making sure of the relevant learnings are captured in the future designs. Besides, having the end-to-end ownership of the developed components, you will also be responsible maintaining and improving verification tools and methods.

Remote work is possible, but you should be near to Porto/Portugal or Århus/Denmark.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. within Mechanical/Structural/Civil/Aerospace Engineering
  • 2-5 years relevant project experience from a similar role
  • Experience in design, development and optimization of innovative mechanical components
  • Experience in design of bolted joints and fasteners, understanding and applying of available standards and best practices
  • Experience in composite models and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) preferably Ansys with knowledge in APDL and Matlab
  • Good understanding of CAD modelling in order to make small modifications to existing CAD models and efficiently communicate with CAD designers
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies and tools (e.g. Scrum) and Project Management or business education/experience
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Clarifying design requirements with all relevant stakeholders
  • Performing Failure Mode Analysis (i.e. DFMEA)
  • Verifying design against requirements
  • Modifying or propose modifications for CAD geometries if necessary
  • Iterating all above steps until an optimal design is achieved
  • Designing larger and more complex wind turbine structures, you will be expected to bring a spirit of innovation and healthy skepticism with respect to the way we plan and implement the work
  • Above all, you will be expected to work and act as part of a team, sharing knowledge, achievements and failures as part of one unit
