Job offer description

IC Backend Design Engineer for Oticon

OTICON A/S

Do you want to take part in the development of state of the art hearing aids and accessories? Oticon is a large, fast growing company in the medical-technical industry where our +450 engineers are all committed to deliver well-made, high tech solutions for hearing impaired people worldwide.

The Physical Design Team

As IC Backend Design Engineer, you will be working in the Physical Design Team (PD team), which consists of 5 people. Everybody in the team is an expert in doing digital and mixed signal physical design of chips in advanced silicon technologies. We as a team are responsible for physical and timing closure for all chips in Oticon, using state of the art design tools and flows from leading EDA suppliers. The PD team is part of a bigger team called Silicon Engines with 50+ employees.

An attractive possibility

Low battery power is key to making good and high performing hearing aids. To do so, we use advanced technology nodes and operate the circuits outside mainstream conditions. It is key to be able to understand and work with a number of challenges not present for ordinary chip projects. This goes for both the pure silicon technology as well as the EDA tools involved. We are able to invest in the right tools and IP to get the job done, and we strive to improve our methodology and professional skills continuously. Chip design is a core competency for Oticon, and we have a large group of very experienced chip designers.

Your Background

We expect you to have at least 5 years of experience plus holding as a minimum a B.Sc. degree in Electronical Engineering. Your main responsibilities include:

- Physical and Timing Closure of digital and mixed signal silicon chips

- Design Flow setup and maintenance

- Design For Test (DFT) and Automatic Test Pattern Generation (ATPG)

- Setup project scripts for DFT and run ATPG

To fulfil these tasks you will need to have a strong experience in:

- Synthesis setup

- Static Timing Analysis

- Physical Verification

- IR Drop analysis

Furthermore, our tool flow is Synopsys based so experience with Synopsys tools is preferable.

You as a colleague

To be successful in this position, you are self-driven and not afraid to take over responsibility for your tasks. After a while, you will become announced a specialist in certain areas of our design flow. It is also important that you are motivated to learn new things and share knowledge with your team members to support each other’s. We use tools and technologies outside the usual areas – therefore you need creativity and the ability to see alternative possibilities. You will be responsible to do physical implementations of a whole chip project yourself. For this reason, it is important that you can work on your own but also function professionally and socially in the IC Backend team.

We dare to make a difference

Together with your talented colleagues who take pride in making a difference, you will have the opportunity to put your mark on tomorrow's solutions. We are at the forefront of the latest technology, constantly working to improve hearing solutions for our users so that we can strengthen and develop the business.

You will be working in a growing international company, where there is rich opportunity for professional and personal development. You will be part of a dynamic environment built on trust and openness, where you will find a strong will to win.
