We are looking for a Development Engineer for our client company Wärtsilä to work with software development. About the role

In this position, you will pair up with an experienced Software Development manager in a team of six. Your knowledge in Java coding is a key in this role but your job duties will focus on reporting and development of system and interface testing. You will be the bridge between software development and delivery department in handover process and ensure that everyone is provided with all information they need. This is the chance of working in the role of a business partner in these processes. The position is international as many of the stakeholders are spread up globally and you will get the chance to develop your communication and coordination skills. In this position you will have the perfect balance of challenging yourself and having your team's support.

 

Job duties

  • Working together with the Software Development Manager
  • Writing requirement specifications based on business requirements (user stories into Jira)
  • Development (stand-ups and workshops) and support activities with the software partners
  • Testing and validation
  • Coordination, facilitation and communication (with e.g. Marine and Energy colleagues, Wärtsilä IM and software partners)

 

We are looking for

  • A relevant educational backround in IT (e.g. BSc in software engineering)
  • Some experience in software development
  • Good data integration and database knowledge in cloud computing environments
  • Basic knowledge of Java coding
  • Good communcating skills in English, both oral and written

 

Experience in Agile development principles (Scrum, Kanban), the use of Atlassian tools , DevOps practices , SAP and Salesforce are seen as advantage.

  • Interested in learning and developing yourself

  • Start: According to contract
  • Work extent: Permanent employment with Academic Work, assignment at Wärtsilä will continue until the end of 2022
  • Location: Vaasa and hybrid mode, opportunity to work in Turku / Helsinki as well, but the team is in Vaasa
