The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Simulation Technology department.  You can look forward to becoming a desired addition to our rapidly maturing global Data Science and Analytics group, at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Luxembourg.

Since its inception, Data Science and Analytics group’s project portfolio has continuously expanded to include projects in areas of business, tire manufacturing, and technology.  The group’s members come from a broad range of backgrounds: Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering; Mathematics, Statistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Astrophysics, Entomology/Biology, and of course - Data Science.

This diverse expertise comes together to develop innovative tools and methods for simulating, modeling and analyzing complex processes throughout our company. We’d like you to help us build the bridges between our complex and varied data; further develop the underlying cloud infrastructure; and help data scientists to utilize it.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement a shared vision for stable, long term cloud platform and process solutions. You will help integrate this as a fundamental part of the data science work flow
• Lead the effort to create and maintain data workflows across manufacturing, analytics, and corporate centers
• Help integrate data pipelines with cloud computing environments across the organization, to support internal and external project development
• Work closely with other data scientists to scale up platforms for data solutions across diverse business and manufacturing applications
• Share and present your ideas and successes with IT professionals and business stakeholders throughout the company
• Have an impact by helping us drive “best data practices” within the global organization

To join our team you will need:

Education:

• M.Sc. in Computer Science or similar technical field

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in big data infrastructure or platform development.
• Experience working with at least one subject in each of the following technology groups:
• Cloud platforms: AWS/Azure/Google reliable cloud platforms at scale, preferably server-less compute-related experiences Building clean, REST/Thrift APIs
• Longer (5+ years) practical experience in combination with certification for a cloud service will be considered as an asset

Languages:

• English is a must.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to automate and orchestrate the provisioning of application and infrastructure services
• Understanding of security concepts related to cloud
• Supporting data science and data engineering workflows 
• Demonstrated knowledge of:
• Cloud platform technology at scale (e.g. Lambda, Fargate, Cloud Formation, AWS CLI)
• Automation and orchestration tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, and Terraform)
• Data science tools (e.g. Python, R, Java/Scala, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Cloud security (e.g. firewall, proxy, key management, IAM, certificate management)
• Ability to network across a global organization; convince and lead; active listening skills;
• Ability to work in a team environment and deliver results on time.
• Capable of conveying information concisely to diverse audiences; experience with communicating dynamics of complex systems in a concise and clear manner.
