About the organisation
Hodson Bay Group was established in 1992. It is owned by the O’Sullivan family and consists of the Hodson Bay Hotel, established in 1993, Galway Bay Hotel which opened in 1998 and the Sheraton Athlone Hotel which entered the market in 2008.
Hodson Bay and Galway Bay Hotels are recognized as two of the leading hotels in the conference and leisure market in the country. This success has been achieved through the provision of first class facilities, set in breathtaking locations, serviced by efficient and friendly staff. Continued growth in the conferencing and events markets and in the leisure market during family holiday season is testament to these core strengths.
The Sheraton Athlone Hotel is the most recent addition to the hotel group. In the pursuit for a 3rd property to compliment the Hodson & Galway Bay business model, the group were presented with the opportunity to enter the “City Break” conferencing and leisure market. To fully capitalize on this, it pursued and subsequently formed a franchise agreement with the World’s Best Hospitality Brand, Sheraton. Sheraton Athlone Hotel is the 12 story iconic landmark of the recently developed Athlone Towncentre complex and operates to a premium 4 star standard.
