Innovation Manager for Carlsberg Breweries Group Development

A Dynamic Brewer with Excellent Taste Buds and an Innovative Mindset to support New Product Development of Highly Profiled Carlsberg Brands

The Carlsberg Group Liquid Innovation team, part of Carlsberg Group Development, is looking for a new highly motivated Innovation Manager with strong technical skills within beer and beverages.

The Innovation Manager:

- Reporting directly to head of liquid innovation and based in Copenhagen the manager will be part of the liquid innovation team working closely together with the rest of the R&D department, the International brands teams and Carlsberg subsidiaries/joint ventures worldwide

- Will be responsible for the scientific background, design, development, testing of new beer and malt based products focused on the international brands; Carlsberg, Tuborg, Somersby, but also local brands and particularly craft beer category.

- Will execute research on new raw materials and processes. Planning and supervising Laboratory scale trial, summarize, and communicate the results.

- Will work on significant cross-functional and cross-national innovation projects based on strong collaboration within the Carlsberg Corporate headquarter functions, Technical Centre, Carlsberg Research Centre, Carlsberg subsidiaries and suppliers.

- Will actively contribute to the global technical innovation network (CONNEXIO).

Primary areas of responsibilities:

- Initiate, drive, manage and coordinate R&D projects within beer/malt based beverages, in cooperation with the Group Innovation department or local marketing/innovation departments

- Based on innovation briefs, develop recipes for test brewing and validation

- Hand-over of final recipes to Group Implementation & optimisation team

- Identify new consumer and technology trends/opportunities, through visits to fairs, exhibitions, suppliers and monitoring of beverage industry activities

- Act as cross-functional team resource in group development projects

- Drive and coordinate Connexio initiatives

- Participate/drive idea generation and concept development

Experience:

- Diploma as Brewmaster combined with a Master or PhD of Science degree

- Minimum 4 - 6 years research/technical working experience

- Strong technical skills and several years of experience from a similar position, preferably in an international company

- Strong track record in beer production, including dedication to quality

- Experience in sensory

- Project management

- Good commercial experience (business degree an asset)

- Strong team player with cross cultural integration skills

- High work capacity and personal drive resulting in high quality output, with a "get the job done" attitude

- Good business understanding

- Proactive and able to anticipate stakeholders' needs and provide effective responses/solutions within a short time frame

- Adaptable to changing work conditions, and to working with team members of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

- Master English at a high level, both verbally and written.

- Good IT skills and is an experienced user of the Microsoft Office programmes. Finally, you are willing to travel 25-45 days on a yearly basis.
