Lead specialist for Array Cables in offshore wind farms

Would you like to take up the technical challenges in relation to high-voltage cabling for grid connection of wind farms? Then join us and become our Lead Specialist in Array Cables department. We are responsible for all medium voltage offshore cables, terminations and accessories, transporting renewable energy between our offshore turbines and to the offshore substation. You will be involved in all engineering phases related to array cable systems for offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You will report directly to our Head of Array Cables department and you will support a team of highly experienced array cable engineers. The department is part of Wind Power which has 1800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You may choose freely to be based either in one of our Danish offices in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in Greater Copenhagen or in our UK office in London on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Your key duties will be to •perform technical tasks within development, design, execution and operation of array cables •manage development projects •carry out thermal design investigations on critical parts of the cable system such as J-tubes, offshore substations, installations with crossings as well as electrical design and protection •work with mechanical forces during installation and lifetime •define requirements and monitor tests of cable systems •interface with other HV equipment and various technical disciplines and ensure grid compliance •develop suppliers. In addition, you will assist our existing wind farms in securing high availability on all assets. You will be responsible for development and implementation of our standard technical solutions and concepts with respect to array cables and ancillary equipment for cables across our portfolio. Moreover, you will verify new technologies and special solutions, participate in R&D activities and workshops, as well as supervise engineering trainees and thesis students. Your qualifications and core competences include that you •hold a master's or a PhD in electrical engineering or similar and have several years of experience with medium- or high-voltage cables •are interested in working with technical issues in connection with high-voltage and medium-voltage cables •are technically skilled, and have experience on cable design (electrical, thermal and mechanical) •speak and write English fluently •are outgoing and have a conscientious attitude to your work and good communication skills. In addition, you thrive on working with colleagues and other stakeholders on technical issues and in relation to innovation. You will have a structured, service-minded and flexible approach to your tasks. You are attentive to development trends within the cabling field and excel in acquiring new knowledge.
