Senior Research Scientist in Ship Design

Lyngby-Taarbæk, 1 stilling

In order to strengthen the activities in ship design, DTU, Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Senior Research Scientist with experience and expertise in ship propulsion efficiency and emission estimation. The position is temporary.

Responsibilities and tasks

The person in question will also take part in research and education within the maritime field. The preferred candidate is expected to have experience from one or more of the following relevant subjects:

- Design and operation of ships and/or maritime structures

- Energy and environmental optimization

- Maritime logistics, optimization of routes and consumption of resources

- Safety, navigation and maritime communication

- Strategic simulation and risk evaluation

- Other technology subjects with relevance to the maritime sector

- Research cooperation with national and international universities

Qualifications

Candidates must

- hold a PhD degree or academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc.

- have experience from teaching of relevant topics for the maritime sector at bachelor and master level

Assessment

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:

- scientific production and research potential

- innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas

- the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities

- experience in teaching and education

- the ability to promote and utilize research results

- an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience

- the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is temporary for a period of maximum two years.
