Job offer description

The group and our research

Research in the Porse group is focused on elucidating mechanisms governing normal and malignant hematopoiesis with special emphasis on the behaviour of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) during adult hematopoiesis and leukemic stem cells (LSCs) in acute myeloid leukemia. To this end, we employ mouse models of human AML, mouse knock-out lines of putative HSC/LSC regulators, primary patient material and a broad range of bioinformatics tools. We have also conducted a number of shRNA-based in vivo screens for genes involved in tumor maintenance and identified a number of novel potential oncogenes and tumor suppressors which will be studied in future projects.

The Porse group is affiliated with the Finsen Laboratory (www.finsenlab.dk) at Rigshospitalet as well as BRIC (www.bric.ku.dk) and DanStem (www.danstem.ku.dk), both University of Copenhagen.

Project/ The research project(s)

The project deals with the characterization of the role of a newly identified transcription factor in B-cell development. Specifically it involves the characterization of a conditional mouse knockout using flow cytometry, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq as well as functional assays.

Start: Preferably 1 March 2016 or after agreement.

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following qualifications:

  • A Master of Science in life science
  • Documented experience in flow cytometry
  • Knowledge about hematopoietic development as well as transcriptional and epigenetic control of gene expression
  • Hands-on experience in deep-sequencing based technologies
  • Excellent communication skills in English

To be considered for the position as PhD fellow, it is a condition, that your Master of Science degree is considered to be equivalent to a Danish Master of Science (http://fivu.dk/en).
