About the department
You get the opportunity to join a high performing team in Novo Nordisk Pharmatech in Køge, Denmark, developing and supplying novel materials for the purification of therapeutic proteins at Novo Nordisk. We work in close collaboration with our scientific colleagues at Novo Nordisk to develop optimal purification solutions for new and existing molecules used for the treatment of diabetes, haemophilia, obesity, and growth disorders. We are an ambitious team with an informal atmosphere and room for a good laugh.
The job
Your key responsibilities will be in-depth review of synthetic methods for the preparation of ion exchange and mixed mode chromatography resins, synthesis and evaluation of silica based ion exchange resins and recording and reporting of scientific work. You will carry out an in-depth review of the scientific literature to identify synthetic methods for the preparation of ion exchange and mixed mode chromatography resins resulting in a presentation to management. In the lab you will perform chemical syntheses of identified silica based ion exchange resins and perform analysis and evaluation of resins for the purification of proteins. You will record and report your scientific work and share your learnings with the team.
Qualifications
You have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other closely related topic and have experience with laboratory work and academic project work. Chemical synthesis experience would be an advantage. You are a strong team player with a good understanding of the chemical sciences. You put attention to detail and are conscious of working safety in the lab. You have experience of using IT and scientific equipment and have understanding of scientific literature. You are dynamic, flexible and able to cope with change, dedicated to ‘making a difference’ and ready to ‘go the extra mile’ when faced with challenges.
Practicalities
Requirement: Students in their first or second year of their master studies.
Period: The internship position is a full-time position for 4-6 months.
Start date: 5 January 2016
