Job offer description

Novo Nordisk A/S

Are you an experienced business professional with a background in financial and commercial analysis of the pharmaceutical industry? Do you want to work on projects that shape the long-term future for Novo Nordisk? New Product Planning is looking for a dynamic Global Portfolio Manager to join the team that shapes the commercial profiles of early-stage assets and develops portfolio analyses to support management decision making.

About the department

New Product Planning (NPP) is a part of Commercial Planning within Global Marketing. We are 12 business professionals in NPP who work with core project teams in research and global project teams in development to incorporate commercial considerations into the development of future diabetes, haemophilia, growth hormone and obesity compounds. This position of Global Portfolio Manager is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team that works with a diverse network of colleagues to guide the future commercial success of the company. You will report to the Vice President of New Product Planning.

The job

You will join a team dedicated to delivering top-quality quantitative and qualitative commercial assessments. Your key tasks will be to work within an asset’s core team to develop the target product profile, to collect primary and secondary data on market conditions and shape that data into actionable recommendations, to lead the development of the commercial portions of the Product Development Plan, and to create financial valuations of assets as they prepare to enter Phase 2. You will work with the team on an annual basis to assess the value of the development portfolio. You will also work on a variety of ad hoc commercial assessments that provide senior management with insights on long-term trends in the diabetes, obesity and haemophilia markets. On a daily basis, you will work with a diverse network of internal colleagues from Research & Development, Global Marketing, Corporate Development and Product Supply. You will work in a global context but interact primarily with headquarters functions and can therefore anticipate less than 20 days of travel per year.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in business or economics with 5-7 years of experience in commercial and financial assessments in the pharmaceutical industry. A scientific background is considered helpful, but not necessary. Brand team experience, on the other hand, is highly valued. It is critical to possess strong financial and analytical skills plus a proven ability to translate analysis into insights and recommendations. On the personal side, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, as this position requires one to work with many stakeholders across the company. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to identify new ways of achieving goals and to get others engaged in thinking which is outside their area of expertise. It is important that the candidate demonstrates the ability to work individually and as part of a team on multiple projects with sometimes conflicting deadlines. Strong communication skills and an excellent command of both written and spoken English are prerequisites for the position.

At Novo Nordisk, we create value by putting patients first. Every ten seconds, two people are diagnosed with diabetes. Close to 371 million people worldwide need our innovative medicines. Working here is not just a way to make a living, but a way to make a difference.
