PhD Project to implement quantum error correction in a semiconductor spin qubit system
Project Description:
One or more PhD positions are available at the Center for Quantum Devices - Station Q Copenhagen to develop a logical, error-correcting spin qubit in semiconductor heterostructures. Research involves experimental design, fabrication of submicron devices and associated electronics, radio-frequency measurement in a dilution refrigerator, data analysis, and scientific writing. Candidate should have strong background in physics at the master level (or undergraduate degree from US) with advanced coursework in quantum mechanics and condensed matter physics, as well as significant experimental experience. Experience and coursework in electronics and quantum information is also helpful.
The position is commencing 1 February 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Project supervisors are Charles Marcus (marcus@nbi.dk) and Ferdinand Kuemmeth (kuemmeth@nbi.dk)
PhD students will either be enrolled in the 5+3 programme, allowing 3 years of full-time PhD studies (candidates with a Master degree), or in the Integrated 3 + 5 PhD programme in which the Master and PhD studies are combined (candidates with a Bachelor degree).
