Engineer - Pipe Design Methodology

As an engineer in the Pipe Design Methodology group you will be a member of a team which is responsible for defining, validating and implementing the design rules of the flexibles pipes. Our flexible pipes are used for versatile offshore oil and gas applications including production, gas lift, gas injection, and water injection.

You will have a background in civil, mechanical, naval, or subsea engineering with strong analytical skills. In your role you will be working with the continuous development of our design rules. Design methodologies are based on both in-depth understanding of solid mechanics and thermal analysis, extensive modelling in these fields, dialogue with material specialists and very importantly comparison with both small scale and full scale testing. The design methods shall be documented so that they can be implemented in spread sheets or dedicated programs. You will have the role of communicating the design rules and their back ground internally to the engineers using the methodologies and externally to clients and third parties.

Your ability to master an advanced analytical and/ or numerical analysis and comparing results with test while cooperating with internal and external clients and experts will be critical to your success in this role. You will be able to achieve large individual responsibility while also working in a team. You will be able to follow the product from design to fabrication at our production facilities.

You should be keen to take on new challenges, develop your technical and interpersonal skills as well as expand your knowledge and experience and share them.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Able to understand and analyse mechanical and thermal behaviour and focus on the essentials

• Able to define and document methodologies that other engineers can implement

• Compare theoretical predictions with tests results

• Systematically document your work

• Preparing and checking of design and analysis documents

• Technical support to the rest of the organisation because of your in-depth knowledge about the methodologies and their validation

• Ensure a timely execution of assigned projects

• Travel as and when required in order to support business

Essential Qualifications:

· BSc in a Mechanical, Naval, Subsea or Civil Engineering Background

Desirable Qualifications:

· MSc/PhD in a Mechanical, Naval, Subsea or Civil Engineering Background

Essential Experience:

· Strong and documented analytical skills within applicable engineering discipline

Desirable Experience:

· Analysis of offshore pipes

· Application of offshore codes and standards specifically API17J, API17B and generally DNV, NORSOK codes

· Experience with the technical clarification processes, negotiations and workflow in international offshore projects

· Experience with pipeline related technology such as, rigid or flexible pipes, petroleum engineering, flow assurance.

Essential skills, training or special knowledge:

· Good communication skills in English both orally and in writing

· Sound knowledge of numerical methods and finite element analysis

· Sound knowledge of structural engineering

Desirable skills, training or special knowledge:

· Good communication skills in Danish both orally and in writing

· Knowledge of FEA

· Good understanding of materials (polymers, steel) and manufacturing
