Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL is a world leading independent solution provider of services to the global wind industry – we have a strong presence in North America, Asia and Europe and more than 25 years in the wind energy business.

DNV GL is the leading international service provider of offshore Project Certification for wind farms and Type Certification of wind turbines. You will join a team of 50 skilled and dedicated colleagues in our Renewables Certification office in Copenhagen.

 

Position Qualifications

Main responsibilities and qualifications

We are looking for an experienced wind turbine engineer. You will form part of a multi-disciplinary team engaged in design review activities related to onshore and offshore wind energy.

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Evaluation of control and protection systems

  • Evaluation of hydraulic systems
  • Witnessing of functional and safety tests of prototype wind turbines

 

Furthermore, your work will include some or all of the following depending on your competences:

  • Review of documentation for loads and load cases for wind turbines including actions from wind, wave and ice

  • Independent load calculations (using aero-elastic codes like FLEX5, HAWC2 and Bladed) for wind turbine structures for onshore and offshore installation
  • Verification of load measurements of wind turbines
  • Site assessment for wind farms, including analysis of extreme wind speeds, wind profiles, turbulence and wake effects from other wind turbines
  • Participate in development of DNV GL standards and other research oriented projects
  • Customer meetings
  • Project management tasks for type and project certification projects

 

The work is organized in projects and the project team is established based on the competencies of the individuals.

 

The ideal candidate has:

  • A profound understanding of structural dynamics or advanced mechanical systems

  • A M.Sc. in Structural or Mechanical Engineering

  • Relevant field experience (10+ years)

  • Solid general wind turbine knowledge

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required

  • A high degree of flexibility and ability to work in teams is fundamental
