In this job, 371 million people worldwide depend on you to develop the world’s best drugs. If you find challenges like this exciting and inspiring, you may be our new development scientist within chemical modification and process development of new active pharmaceutical peptides and proteins.
About the department
The job is located in Novo Nordisk Research & Development area in the department Chemical Development. In our department you will find 60 highly skilled and motivated colleagues with a “can-do” attitude, who constantly challenge themselves to create, improve, upscale and transfer robust chemical processes.
Our main responsibility is to develop and strengthen chemical processes from production for pre-clinical and clinical studies, to the transfer to the area responsible for market production. We do so in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including discovery teams, analysis teams, QA, RA, pilot facilities, and CMOs.
The job
We are looking for a candidate with a keen interest in being the leading scientist in a new group focusing on the company’s growing portfolio within synthetic peptides. You will together with the team leader guide and set scientific direction for the group. Besides guiding the group members, you will also have the responsibility of development projects. It will be your responsibility to plan laboratory experiments within peptide chemistry, transfer processes to our pilot facilities or externally to CMOs. You will work proactively together with the relevant development projects and stakeholders aiming at identifying the best processes, in terms of product quality and transferability from lab-scale, pilot-scale, and to production scale, aimed for clinical testing.
This knowledge you will document in development reports for use in later filing documentation. The progress of the projects will be evaluated internally in the team but also in cross-functional project groups which you will be part of when relevant. You will give input to regulatory submissions of files to authorities and drive and/or facilitate submission and approval of patents. You will to some degree participate as the technical expert in outsourcing activities of relevant key raw materials and external API productions, in collaboration with our outsourcing department.
Qualifications
Ideally, you hold PhD (or equivalent) in peptide chemistry or organic chemistry, and have at least five years of experience from a medicinal company or a CMO/CRO working with synthetic peptides. You have worked in a setting where cGMP, and pharmaceutical development have been your everyday environment. It is considered as an advantage if you have experience with CMC activities and CMO activities. Also, it will be an advantage if you have experience in delegating responsibility to other scientists and technicians.
An innovative mind-set and being able to convert theory into practical solutions is expected. Further, as a role model for your fellow colleagues you are expected to have good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to be both a team player and independently drive complicated development projects forward.
Candidates will be invited to interviews on a regular basis, also before the deadline.
At Novo Nordisk, your skills, dedication, and ambitions help us change lives for the better. In exchange, we offer you an opportunity to work with extraordinary talent and benefit from a range of possibilities for professional and personal development.
