A one-year position as Research Scientist in our Histology & Imaging department is available immediately. In this job, you will join a high performance team working to expand our understanding of metabolic diseases and progressing new treatment options.

The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders and explore novel treatments for microvascular complications of diabetes. Consisting of approximately 1500 highly qualified scientists, postdocs, and technicians, the Global Research Unit conducts its world-class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing, and Seattle.

About the department

The department of Histology & Imaging is part of Novo Nordisk’s Global Research committed to the development of new pharmaceutical peptides and proteins to improve the quality of life and treatment for people with diabetes. Situated in Måløv, Denmark, the department employs state-of-the-art histology and imaging technologies to support both early and late stage projects with detection and quantitation of drug and drug receptors as well as efficacy and safety markers. In brief, we visualize and quantitate the distribution of peptides and proteins using a wide range of histology and imaging platforms including automated IHC and ISH.

The job

You will be responsible for bridging our imaging platforms with histological technologies. You will be part of a cross-departmental and cross-functional task force, where you will play an important role in expanding our current knowledge of the biology and pharmacology of our late stage diabetes and obesity projects.

Your main internal contacts in your daily work will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members, as well as managers in Novo Nordisk R&D, mainly within Global Research in Måløv. Developing and maintaining strong networks will be an important part of your work with good opportunities for personal and professional development.

Qualifications

The person we seek is innovative with a high focus on quality. You must have a PhD in Life Sciences and a strong experimental background within CNS histology. A background in metabolic diseases and a solid understanding of GLP-1 biology is also preferred. You have a proven publication record with histology or image based methods and a good international network, preferably with experience from working cross-culturally. Furthermore, you have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with challenges in a direct and open manner.

At Novo Nordisk, we use our skills, dedication and ambition to help people with diabetes. We offer the chance to be part of a truly global work place, where passion and engagement are met with opportunities for professional and personal development.
