Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship at the Department of Economics and/or Department of Psychology. The chosen candidate will likely enrol and have principal supervisor at one department and a co-supervisor at the other. The project is part of the project “HHPOLITICS: A Household Finance Theory of Political Attitudes and Political Behavior”.

Employment is scheduled to begin on 1 February 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter.

HHPOLITICS is a research project financed by the European Research Council (ERC) under its Starting Grant-program. Two key parts of the project involve experimental investigations of paternalism and the health scientific and psychological basis for impatience, and the formation of political preferences towards paternalism. 

The scholarship is part of a research project in empirical and theoretical behavioural political economics. The work involves combining quantitative data from Danish administrative registers with survey data and health register data in a longitudinal sample.

Qualifications

Applicants from economics should have some knowledge of social psychology or personality psychology; applicants from psychology should have some knowledge of economic experiments and econometrics.

The scholarship is a 5+3 programme position.

In order to be eligible for a scholarship in the 5+3 PhD study programme the applicant must have completed a MSc degree successfully before starting his or her employment. PhD students are paid salary according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The PhD student has a work obligation of up to 840 hours over the 3 year period of time without additional pay. The work obligation can include for instance teaching.
