The Department of Electrical Engineering invites applicants for a 3-year PhD position.



The objective of the PhD project is to improve signal to noise ratio in Magnetic Resonance (MR) systems by implementing low-noise multi-element coil arrays. In order to reduce the noise of the array, the coils and associated frontends (matching, tuning, balancing circuits and amplifiers) will be cooled down to cryogenic temperatures.



This project is a part of the Centre for Hyperpolarization and will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Medicine - the MR Research Centre, Aarhus University.



The applicants should fulfil the following requirements



Mandatory:

•MSc in engineering or equivalent qualification, preferably in electrical engineering

•Knowledge of electromagnetics and circuit design

•Basic knowledge of specific simulations software (CST/HFSS, Agilent ADS)

•Collaborative abilities and be able to work efficiently and independently



Appreciated:

•Knowledge of MR technologies

•Experience in RF and microwave circuit design and characterisation

•Practical skills in RF circuit prototyping and soldering

•Ability to present results in technical reports, and prepare scientific papers for publication in international journals



Approval and Enrolment

Salary and appointment terms

The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD students. The period of employment is 3 years.
