Principal Tasks & Accountability
Underpinning all of the following is the requirement that the following tasks are conducted and completed in an effective and proficient manner that protects the dignity of each patient/resident and support the philosophy, objectives and goals of Bloomfield Health Services at all times.
Direct Patient Care
Wash patients in bed shower or bath as required.
Making beds.
Help patients/residents to dress. Lift, move, turn, re-position patients, using the appropriate equipment at all times.
Care of incontinent, colostomy and ileostomy patients. Supervise incontinent, colostomy and ileostomy patients in toilets, on commodes and in bathrooms and assist with appropriate hygiene and

Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have completed a QQI Level 5 (8 modules) in Healthcare or equivalent and will have a minimum of 6 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant. Previous experience in a psychiatric environment is an advantage.

This service is a 114 bed Mental Health Hospital, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Bloomfield Hospital provides specialist Neuropsychiatric assessment and continuing care services for individuals with complex mental health needs on a national basis and also specialises in the provision of mental health services to adults and older persons with serious and enduring mental health needs. We also provide specialist palliative care to individuals with mental health needs. Registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission, Bloomfield Hospital continues to develop its leadership role in innovative and effective treatment programmes for its patients. Referrals are accepted nationally.
