Job offer description

A position as assistant professor is available in the group of Jes Jørgensen at Centre for Star and Planet Formation and the Niels Bohr Institute. The group focuses on understanding the physics and chemistry of the earliest stages of star and planet formation with particular emphasis on observations of such systems using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and other telescopes operating at far-infrared and (sub)millimeter wavelengths as well as link to theory through detailed dust and line radiative transfer modeling.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in these types of submillimeter interferometric observations and radiative transfer modeling – and will also have shown a strong interest in star formation and astrochemical studies documented by a solid list of publications within the field. She/he will have experience as an independent researcher, e.g., from previous post doc position(s).

The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research: (s)he will have ample time to pursue her/his own ambituous research program but will also be involved in ongoing projects within the group. The position as assistant professor also carries obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within submillimeter astronomy, star formation and astrochemistry. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.
